For Secondary School Educators
Now in it's 6th year, Zen Zen Zo's popular Teachers' Training Course
provides a practical insight into the dynamic world of physical
theatre. Led by Zen Zen Zo's international Teaching Artists, the course
is designed to train educators to teach physical theatre in secondary
schools.
The unique teachers' training experience aims to provide teachers with:
- an in-depth understanding of Physical Theatre
- an experience of "Viewpoints" as a Physical Theatre teaching tool
- a practical, artistic experience for teachers
- an opportunity to engage with Zen Zen Zo's unique approach to training
The course is broken into two sessions, which can be attended separately or together.
Session #1 - Physical Actor Training
1-2 July, 9am-5pm
The aim of this 2-day intensive is to introduce the 3 physical theatre
methods that Zen Zen Zo has specialised in for the past 16 years: the
Suzuki Method of Actor Training, Butoh, and Viewpoints. Teachers will
come away with a solid understanding of each of these methods as well
as many new exercises that can be taught in the classroom.
Session #2 - Creating Physical Theatre
3-4 July, 9am-5pm
This 2-day intensive will focus on the process of creating physical
tehatre. Based on Zen Zen Zo's methodologies, the participants will
learn how to take training into rehearsal and performance, as well as
how to create devised work from scratch. This session was introduced in 2007 and is therefore open to past participants of the Teachers' Training Course.
