PERFORMANCE COMPANY
ANNABELLE WINKLER is an actor and artist. She recently graduated from
the University of Queensland with a BA
(Drama/Japanese). In 2008 she received a scholarship to study at the University of California, Berkeley, where she
studied Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies. During her time at Berkeley,
she was cast in the University's main stage production and performed alongside
the final year acting students in Carol Churchill's Top Girls (‘08 dir.
Christine Nicholson). She was proud to be part of this cast which was reviewed
as "strong, varied" and "vibrant". She was also a co-creator and performer in Cicatrice
by Cicatrice: a performance adaptation of poems by Anne Carson ('08 facilitator
Shannon Steen) while at UC Berkeley.
Annabelle
has been training with Zen Zen Zo ever since meeting the company in 2003 when
she participated in XL-D Express: The Mayne Inheritance (dir. Stephen
Matthias, et al). In 2005 she completed the Company Internship with the
performance of those with Lucifer.. (dir. Steven Mitchell Wright). She
also contributed to the production as assistant designer. Through the company,
Annabelle has had the opportunity to train in Viewpoints/Suzuki with Ellen
Lauren (SITI Company), in Butoh with Yumiko Yoshioka (TEN PEN Chii), and in the
Meisner Technique of actor training with James Kable. In 2010, she will perform in the IN THE RAW Studio Season produciton of Dante's Inferno.
She
has also worked as a tutor at the University of Queensland, including
directing Shimmer as part of the 2007 One-act play competition.
Currently, she is working on a series of pen and ink artworks for a future exhibition.
