Damian Bernardo

DAMIAN BERNARDO worked in Brisbane with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre in  
2008, completing the Company Internship as a Directing Intern.  He  
also directed a devised work with members of the youth arm of the  
company called Invisible Journeys. Damian has worked as an actor and  
director in Melbourne for the past 11 years. He directed/devised a  
piece for the 2009 Big West Festival called Born West, as part of  
Company White Wolf.  Most recently, his performance credits include  
The Glass Threshold (2009) with Machination Theatre Ensemble (dir.  
Megan Jones) and Zeitgeist (2008) with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre  
(dir. Lynne Bradley).  He was an actor in the devised production of  
I'll Love You Forever ... err... (2007; dir. Richard Lawton) and has  
directed several youth devised and traditional works: High School  
Musical
(2010), Welcome to Pisstown (2007), Bang Bang You're Dead  
(2007), Going Solo 2 (2007), Plagues: Beauty and Blame (2007), Fame -  
The Musical
(2007), Icon: Picture Perfect, Cos I'm Free, All My Life,  
Invalid and Stevie Wonderful
(2006), Going Solo (2006), The West  
Welcomes Refugees
(2006), Grease (2006), Futurismo (2004) and Identity  
(2004). He also worked as an actor and Assistant Director in Shorts:  
Fear
(2001), Medea (2000) and Antigone Antipodes (1999).

Damian has trained in various capacities, completing a Bachelor of  
Arts/Bachelor of Teaching at Australian Catholic University (2001),  
the Founations Acting Course at Victorian College of the Arts (2003)  
and the Industry Presentation Course at Drama With a Difference  
(2007). Damian has worked as a Performing Arts teacher in secondary  
schools in Melbourne and London for the past nine years, and is  
co-head of the Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre teaching team in Melbourne  
(and greater Victoria), specialising in the Suzuki Method of Actor  
Training and the Viewpoints.
