Harriet Devlin is a physically and vocally trained performer, teacher and emerging director. Originally from Brisbane, Harriet has been training with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre in the Suzuki Method of Actor Training, Viewpoints and Butoh since 2005. Harriet was first introduced to the Viewpoints in 2000 as a member of the Ignatians Youth Theatre (IYT). Harriet was trained in the Viewpoints, and performed in bi-annual productions with IYT from 2000 to 2004. These productions included scenes from Romeo and Juliet, Black Rock, and original realist and absurdist plays written by Nic Dorward.
Harriet re-located to London in 2007 and was employed by Shakespeare's Globe Theatre as a member of the Southwark Community Projects Team from 2007 to 2008. While in London, Harriet also worked as a freelance director, and participated in regular workshops in actor training with Warhorse Theatreworks and The Urban Dolls Project, developing skills in Lecoq, Puppetry, Butoh, Capoeira and the Viewpoints.
Harriet's directing credits for Mount Saint Michael's College include: Fossils (2006), Romeo and Juliet (2006 and 2007), After January (2007) 48 Shades of Brown (2007) and Othello (2009). 2009 sees Harriet performing in The Tempest as part of her involvement in the Zen Zen Zo Company Internship, as well as assistant-producing and performing in Zen Zen Zo's production of Zeitgeist, which will tour in Edinburgh this year.
