Jamie Kendall

Jamie Kendall has been working as a Brisbane-based performer, choreographer and teacher for the past 4 years. Since 2006, Jamie has had a very strong ongoing artistic relationship with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre. Jamie's training includes; the Suzuki Method of Actor Training, Anne Bogart's Viewpoints, Butoh, and several years in Classical Ballet, Jazz and Tap.

In 2006 Jamie became involved in the study of Butoh, and has since travelled to Japan to work with internationally renowned Butoh Company; Dairakudakan, inspiring his focus on creating contemporary dance work for recent projects. He has performed in a number of shows, including Gaia (2009), Swan Lake (2008), The Golden Show (2008 - In Japan), Forgotten Lives (2007), and Beauty and The Beast (2006).

In July last year he appeared in Zen Zen Zo's The Tempest, which he also co-choreographed. Jamie's dance credits include The Bacchae (2009), Downside-up (2009), Wings of Desire (2009), on-going performance relationship with Emma Dean (2009-2010), and the internationally acclaimed, Zeitgeist (2008, 2009, 2010). In 2008 he was an assistant director for The Forgotten and this year for Vs. Guilt. Jamie has also been involved in many community performance projects, such as the opening of Cloudland nightclub and Iorpheus.

2010 currently sees Jamie continuing as a Teaching and Performance company member of Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre; committing to his fourth season of Zeitgeist¸ in the Nelson Arts Festival, New Zealand, after 3 sell-out seasons in Brisbane, Edinburgh and Adelaide; Performing in his second season of Swan Lake, with Queensland Ballet in August; Choreographing and Assistant Directing alongside Harriet Devlin for the show Vs. Guilt; as well as ongoing performances with Emma Dean, such as the National Folk Festival.
