Mark Hill

hs_markhill.jpgMARK HILL is a teaching artist with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre and has worked with the company since 2003. He is currently teaching at QUT and Queensland Ballet, and he will perform in the upcoming INTHERAW show, Zeitgiest. Past productions with Zen Zen Zo include: Tokyo Vogue (National Multicultural Fringe Festival, Canberra/The Bongo Club, C Venue and The Universal Arts Theatre, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, 07); Dusk, (Coolum Kite Festival, 07); Renfield, Dracula (Old Museum, Brisbane, 07); An End to Dreaming (ESF Schools, Hong Kong and The Dresden Dolls Concerts, London and Brisbane, 06); Persia (Australian Business Arts Foundation, Brisbane Treasury Casino, 06); Macbeth (World Shakespeare Congress, Brisbane City Hall, 06); Those with Lucifer (Strut 'n' Fret, Substation 4, 05) and; The Odyssey (Queensland Performing Arts Centre, 04).
Internationally, Mark has been a guest Butoh dancer with Dairakudakan (
Dobu, Japan, 07); Yoshimoto Daisuke (Noge, Kiyadai, Japan, 06); SU-EN Butoh Company (Scrap Project, Uppsala Cultural Night, Sweden, 05) and; Yoshioka Yumiko/TEN PEN CHII (Pacewalk Cultural Night, Germany, 05). Mark has also studied Butoh with: Ohno Yoshito (Japan); Takenouchi Atsushi (Greece/Italy); Endo Tadashi (Germany) and; Anita Saij (Denmark).
Mark has performed with Amanda Palmer (The
Dresden Dolls) as part of The Danger Ensemble (Who Killed Amanda Palmer Tour, Australia, 08 and Amanda Palmer, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, 07) and with Little Dove Theatre Arts (Cirque, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, 07).
In 2005, Mark studied The Suzuki Method of Actor Training and Viewpoints with Ellen Lauren, AD of SITI Company,
New York. He has taught Physical Theatre at the tertiary and secondary level in Australia and to actors in Bangkok (B-FLOOR Physical Theatre Company). Mark was a Secondary Visual Art teacher and gymnastics coach for many years. He is currently studying Japanese.
